1/5/14: My Juicy Foodture – The Plan
SO! As I mentioned yesterday, I’m following the 3-day juicing fast of the Food Babe. Below are the items you’ll need for two people to juice for 3 days. Note: The shopping list is pretty much directly from the Food Babe; however, I found some inconsistencies on the list on her website, and my list below clears that all up. Obviously, you’ll want to buy organic items if and when possible, so if you have a local farmer’s market or anything, I’d head there to buy the stuff.
Shopping List for 3-Day Juicing Fast:
- 3 large beets with tops
- 3 bunches of lacinato/dinosaur kale
- 2 bunches curly kale
- 1 bunch of rainbow chard
- 1 bunch of collard greens
- 1 head of green cabbage
- 4 packs of celery
- 2 x 2lb bags of carrots
- 8 cucumbers
- 1 bunch of cilantro
- 1 bunch of parsley
- 10 lemons
- Bag of green apples
- 1 pear
- 2-4 packs of fresh cranberries
- 1-2 huge clusters of ginger
- 1 garlic bulb
- Green herbal tea
- Cayenne pepper
That’s a lot of green stuff! Here are a couple of pictures of what some of that looks like once I got it in my cart and at home:
I spent about $90 for everything, which breaks down to about less than $5 per person per juice meal. Not bad!!
Once I got home and looked at the recipes for each day/meal (forthcoming), because I’m an anal organized person :), I separated all of the veggies into bags for each meal. E.g., Day 1’s Breakfast, Day 2’s Lunch, etc.
Trust me: it makes it easier for storage purposes now, and for when it comes time to juice a certain meal. You don’t have to go rummaging through tons of stuff just to find what you’re looking for.
The actual recipes and recaps of my juicy journey are forthcoming!
